People are our connection to ourself. Looking at others makes us know we exist. People are the reason for any space, wall or room we create. They are the inhabitants of our creations and the reason we do things in the first place.

Seeing our emotions mirrored in the face of another person makes them more grasping for us. The artistic challenge about portraying people lies in the choice of the person you portrait, having respect for them, the right choice of style for a certain emotion and precise execution.

Working with portraits requires a sense of a before and after of the motif - an underlying story. Last but not least the context and the space where the portrait is displayed and received are of importance. If these factors are not considered before choosing to do a portrait it can be easily missleading, confusing, disfiguring, cynical or for the worst trivial.
