Short Bio

Infras artistic journey started in 2011 when he discovered tape as a creative medium and quickly got hooked by its potential. Since 2012 Infra has been vitally active in the Berlin based Tape Art Collective Tape That. On a mission to spread the idea of Tape Art they hosted workshops and created exhibitions around the world, often inspired by the local culture. By 2019 members of Tape That have been in thirty-six different countries and Infra played a vital role in this with participations in Cambodia, China, Vietnam, Japan, India, Russia, Belarus, Israel, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Denmark, Sweden, France and Taiwan. While refining his skills and exploring new materials Infra started to organise and curate the first Tape Art Convention. The TAC took place in 2016, 2018 and 2022. With each edition it attracted more artists and visitors and is by now the worlds biggest exhibition for art with adhesive materials. In 2019 and 2022 Infra took part in Tape That’s most ambitious exhibition project. In cooperation with the taiwanese art agency Fun Design they planned and realised their biggest solo exhibitions as a collective in Taipei and Kaohsiung. The pictures of the exhibition where spread around the world and it won the Red Dot Design Award "Best of The Best" in 2020.

Artistic Statement

Infras artistic journey started with the choice of tape as a medium. This had a strong influence on his visual style which is inspired by straight lines, urban structures, geometric patterns and computer graphics. The limitations and possibilities of tape as a medium made the creative process exciting and challenging, but at the same time simple and playful. In his often walkable and interactive installations Infra literally brakes with physical borders and viewing habits. His artworks provoke and confuse by dissolving rooms into geometric patterns, however they stay within a certain framework of aesthetic ideas navigating between order and chaos. On canvas his abstract compositions search to connect the virtual and the physical space taking inspiration from digital aesthetics and bringing them back into the real world.
